What Car? central to day of green events

What Car? will play a central role in a day that highlights the issues surrounding motoring and the environment.

Events start on June 8 at 9am, when the Revolve Brighton to London Eco Rally 2009 sets out from Madeira Drive. Media, environmentalists and celebrity drivers will cover the route in a variety of environmentally friendly present and future cars.

At 9.45am, the annual Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership conference will start at City Hall, London. A range of speakers will discuss the issues surrounding motoring, the environment and the economy.

The Eco Rally will arrive at City Hall in time for the second annual What Car? Green Awards. As with last year, we'll be presenting an award for our favourite environmentally friendly car in each category.

Steve Fowler, What Car? group editor, said: 'The What Car? Green Awards 2009 will be more important than ever to car buyers green cars are still big news, especially as they tend to mean lower running costs.'

'Were delighted to be holding our Green Awards alongside the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership's annual conference and the Brighton to London Eco-Rally June 8 will be a day that highlights the best green cars on sale and the trends that will shape our driving in the future.'
