Deal of the Day: Lease a Volkswagen T-Cross from £200 per month

The Volkswagen T-Cross is a spacious and versatile small SUV, and you could lease one for a keen price with our deals...

VW T-Cross front cornering

If you’re in the market for a new petrol-powered small SUV, the Volkswagen T-Cross might have already crossed your mind. Indeed, the T-Cross is a stylish prospect, and despite being slightly smaller than the popular VW T-Roc, it’s still very spacious inside.

In fact, we’d argue that the T-Cross is one of the best small SUVs you can buy, even when you put it up against both combustion and electric rivals. So, if that all sounds good to you, you might be pleased to know that you could put a new one on your driveway for as little as £200 per month.

To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 36-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2393.65. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1477.05), which will cost £246.18 per month.

There are three petrol engines available in the T-Cross, but our Deal of the Day comes with the mid-level 1.0 TSI 115, which pumps out 113bhp and can manage 0-62mph in 10.1sec. Thanks to its extra shove compared with the entry-level engine, we think it’s worth the small increase in cost.

While there are some comfier SUVs out there – including the T-Roc – the T-Cross is very pleasant to ride in, especially as our Deal of the Day comes with the smaller 17in wheels. It also feels right at home around town, where its light steering makes turning round tight corners and parking in small spaces a breeze. If you’re looking for pure driving fun, the T-Cross is a fine option, but the rival Ford Puma offers that in spades.

SUV fans will appreciate the lofty driving position in the T-Cross, which places you higher than most rivals, including the Kia Stonic and Skoda Kamiq. Everything feels well screwed together, with pleasant soft-touch plastics on the areas you use most.

Elsewhere inside, you get an 8in digital driver’s display behind the wheel, alongside an 8in infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It’s a system that’s easy to use, even if some of the smaller icons can be harder to hit on the move.

Although it’s a small SUV, the T-Cross has a surprising amount of space for both front and rear passengers inside, with plenty of storage up front too. There’s 455 litres of boot space on offer when you slide the rear seats forward, but that compromises rear leg room quite a lot. Still, with the seats slid all the way back, there’s enough room for five carry-on suitcases below the parcel shelf.

Our Deal of the Day comes in our favourite Match trim, which includes keyless entry, tinted rear windows and 17in alloy wheels, on top of the standard adaptive cruise control, air-conditioning and ambient interior lighting.
