Easter traffic chaos predicted
* Families staying in UK as credit crunch bites * Railway engineering works force people into cars * Journeys could take 50% longer...
Motoring organisations are warning that this Easter's traffic will be the worst ever, as growing financial fears mean that families are choosing to stay in Britain rather than travel abroad.
The RAC has predicted that journeys on Good Friday and Easter Monday could take twice as long as normal, because many families who would normally travel abroad are staying in the UK to save money.
It also says that a greater number than normal of rail users will take to the roads, due to the numerous engineering works taking place, combined with a mooted strike on the East Coast Main Line service.
