Mercedes-AMG GT 4dr
Like the cheaper E-Class, the GT 4dr has a sharp 12.3in screen with good graphics, but it can be sluggish to respond to inputs and is controlled via a trackpad in front of the gear selector that makes it harder to hit icons than the E-Class’s rotary dial. Apple and Android smartphone mirroring and wireless charging are included, though. The standard Burmester 14-speaker 640-watt stereo sounds great.

Porsche Panamera
A 12.3in touchscreen operates all the functions, and it’s responsive and very high in definition. The various menus are tricky to navigate initially, but after a while you can find your way around. Only Apple devices can be mirrored; Android Auto is unavailable, and there’s no wireless charging. The standard 14-speaker Bose stereo can be upgraded to a 21-speaker Burmester system costing £4001.
