Van of the Year 2021: Best for Aftersales
The very best aftersales care encompasses a long, extensive warranty, free servicing and roadside assistance, plus brilliant service in the workshop...
WINNER: Best for Aftersales
Providing a five-year warranty is still a pretty rare thing in the world of vans, and it takes a brave manufacturer to back its products for such an extended period, knowing that they can be subjected to a lot of use and abuse in that time.
Fiat Professional not only provides such a warranty but also backs it up: new Fiat Sportivo and Tecnico vans get a five-year warranty, five years’ free servicing and five years of roadside assistance, a rare combination when the norm is three years, no free servicing and at most 12 months of breakdown cover.
If the worst happens, it’s also crucial that the service provided is top-notch. Customer feedback suggests Fiat Professional’s attitude to getting stranded drivers back on the road is exemplary, boosted by its history of having shared workshops with truck manufacturer Iveco in many of its dealerships. As any van or truck owner knows, time off the road is lost income, and Fiat’s technicians appear to understand that.
Of note, Nissan offers a similar level of coverage, with five years of cover available across all models in its range up to 100,000 miles. However, Fiat’s offer goes a little further, with 125,000 miles of cover on its two largest vans, the Talento and Ducato, and 100,000 on the Fiorino and Doblo Cargo. The offer will even extend to the electric E-Ducato when it arrives next year, with 10 years of cover for the batteries, albeit over 75,000 miles.
