Car of the Year Awards 2023: Best electric SUV for value
Thanks to big advancements in battery and charging technology, the best electric SUVs are now as usable as they are desirable...
MG ZS EV SE

“Price is what you pay; value is what you get,” according to billionaire investor Warren Buffett. And when it comes to the MG ZS EV, what you get is an awful lot. In entry-level SE trim, it undercuts the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV and Skoda Enyaq iV on price, yet it’s packed with kit, including keyless entry, air-con, adaptive cruise control, automatic LED lights and 17in alloy wheels.

The interior isn’t a match for the Genesis GV60’s, but it doesn’t feel cheap or nasty. You’ll find soft-touch plastics on the dash, along with solid-feeling buttons and an impressive level of fit and finish. There’s space for five adults to travel in comfort (it beats the Niro EV for rear leg room), and the boot is generously proportioned, with a height-adjustable floor as standard.
The 198-mile official range isn’t the best out there but will be enough for many families. If you want to go farther, the Long Range version gets a bigger battery and promises up to 273 miles between top-ups.
