There are so many small SUVs on the market nowadays that it can be difficult to know which models are worth your money. The best ones have enough space to cart round families on a daily basis, are enjoyable to drive and can carry a decent amount of cargo in the boot – and we think the Seat Arona does a pretty good job of all those things.

So, if that all sounds good to you, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can save a packet on a new Arona with our free online New Car Deals service.

- Save £5165 on a new Seat Arona 1.0 TSI EVO S

- Save £6644 on a new Seat Arona 1.0 TSI EVO SE Technology

- Save £7310 on a new Seat Arona 1.0 TSI FR Black Edition

Three engine options are available with the Arona. There’s two versions which use a 1.0-litre petrol engine, with power outputs of 94bhp or 113bhp, and one version with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which pumps out 148bhp.

The entry-level 94bhp Arona might feel slightly sluggish at low revs, but there’s enough punch to sit comfortable at motorway speeds. It’s more comfortable than a lot of rivals, though, including the Citroën C3 Aircross and Kia Stonic – especially when you opt for smaller wheels.

Opting for the 94bhp engine with entry-level S trim gets you 16in alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, electrically-adjustable door mirrors and rear parking sensors. You can save up to £5615 on that combination.

Stepping up to mid-spec SE Technology – our favourite trim – gets you an improved infotainment system with a larger touchscreen, wireless phone charging and an integrated sat-nav with voice control. That, along with the entry-level engine, will save you up to £6644.

However, our favourite engine option is the 113bhp option, because it pulls nicely from low revs and feels more energetic than its 94bhp sibling. When you opt for one of the higher trims, you can opt for a six-speed manual gearbox – though a seven-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard.

For a saving of up to £7310, you can have your 113bhp Arona with FR Black Edition trim. That includes firmer sports suspension, interior ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, sports bucket seats, 18in alloy wheels and exclusive black styling.

Inside, lower-spec Arona models get an 8.25in infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring. Anything with SE Technology trim or above gets a larger 9.2in touchscreen, which has crisp graphics and responds quickly to your prods. We just wish there were more physical controls.
