Every brand's cheapest plug-in hybrid, and the discounts available on them
From Audi to Volvo, we name the cheapest new plug-in hybrid model in every company's range, and reveal the discounts currently available that make them even more tempting...
If you're not ready to go fully electric and you regularly undertake long journeys, a plug-in hybrid could be an ideal solution.
That's because a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) essentially offers the best of both worlds. Like a conventional hybrid, a PHEV has both a petrol or diesel combustion engine and an electric motor. However, the battery pack that powers a PHEV’s motor is larger than that used by a standard hybrid, bringing the advantage of running farther on electric power alone. So this means you could feasibly cover local journeys using the electric motor, and then make much longer ones with the combustion engine.
If you're a company car buyer, a PHEV also makes a lot of sense because their CO2 emissions are lower than for regular combustion-engined cars, and that places them in lower benefit-in-kind (BIK) company car tax brackets.
But which are the cheapest plug-in hybrids on sale? Here, we'll walk you through the cheapest model from every brand, and reveal how much you can save by using our Target Price deals via our free What Car? New Car Buying service.
