Skoda Octavia wins 2013 Tow Car Awards
Britain's best tow car is chosen by experts from What Car?, Practical Caravan and The Camping and Caravanning Club, with candidates considered from models launched throughout the year.
Smaller cars performed well across the board with a Green Award for the Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC ES, and a Best Budget 4x4 award for the Dacia Duster dCi 110 Ambiance.
Other winners included the Mazda 6 Sport saloon, Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI Bluemotion Estate, and the Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 diesel Sportbrake.
The Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 won the heavyweight class for the fourth consecutive year.
David Motton, tow car editor of Practical Caravan magazine said: 'We've all heard news reports of overturned trailers causing chaos on the motorway, which is why it is so important to make sure the car you are towing with is up to the job.
'Our tow car tests are extremely demanding. We put cars through dynamic tests to replicate situations we hope most people never have to experience when towing, and our winners are the cars that take this in their stride, as well as being good to drive and economical and practical to own.'
