Yes, you could have bought a property for the same money. But would your three-bedroom house come with lambswool mats as standard? For the best of the best in interiors, the Cullinan swats away its rivals with a gloved hand.

The build quality throughout is as solid as the raw diamond the car is named after. But slip inside Rolls-Royce’s first SUV and shut the soft-close door and you’ll be transported to a universe of tranquillity and luxury without moving an inch.

Up front, the beautifully old-school dials and switches, and especially the leather-clad steering wheel, are a delight to interact with – as is the BMW-derived infotainment system.

In the back, if you haven’t got the TV on, recline the backrest, close the window blind, look up and – provided you’ve ticked it on the options list – treat yourself to some star gazing with the fibre-optic night sky lights in the roof lining.

It all adds up to an exquisitely opulent interior that makes even the £150,000 Bentley Bentayga feel a step down.
