Deal of the Day: Lease a Nissan Qashqai e-Power from £241 per month

The Nissan Qashqai is one of the UK's favourite cars, and you could lease one for a keen price with our deals...

If you’re in the market for a family SUV, there’s a good chance you’re already considering the Nissan Qashqai. Not only is it smart inside and good to drive, it’s also consistently one of the top-selling models here in the UK.

And, if you want a reason to feel patriotic, you might be pleased to know that the Qashqai is built on these shores at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland. So, if that all sounds good to you, it’s worth considering that you could put a new one on your driveway for as little as £241 per month.

To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 36-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2886.02. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1764.11), which will cost £294.02 per month.

There are three engines available in the Nissan Qashqai, but our Deal of the Day comes in e-Power form, which uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine solely to charge a battery. The battery powers an electric motor that drives the front wheels, giving you 202bhp, plus instant electric car acceleration but without the need to plug in to charge.

While the Qashqai isn’t quite as fun to drive as a Seat Ateca, with its numb steering and slight body lean, it has enough grip and composure through corners. And, as our Deal of the Day comes with smaller 17in wheels, it’s pleasantly comfortable too.

The e-Power system has a number of advantages over other Qashqais and even over other hybrid cars. Since its motor doesn’t require a gearbox, it’s never searching for gears when you put your foot down. Plus, the power delivery is consistently smooth and the engine remains pleasantly hushed as it charges the battery.

Inside, you’ll find everything feels well put-together and built to last, with nice faux-leather materials across the dashboard and solid-feeling knobs and switches. The Mazda CX-5 and Peugeot 3008 are slightly more upmarket, but only by a small margin.

Elsewhere inside, there’s a 12.3in digital driver’s display, plus a matching 12.3in infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring.

There’s plenty of space for tall adults in both the front and the rear of the Qashqai, plus the rear doors open nice and wide, which is a blessing if you’re putting kids in child seats. With 504 litres of boot space, the Qashqai has enough space for at least seven carry-on suitcases below the parcel shelf – but the Ateca is more practical.

Our Deal of the Day comes in entry-level Acenta Premium trim, which comes with keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control, automatic windscreen wipers and automatic LED headlights.
