You can have your Skoda Octavia with petrol, diesel or mild hybrid power, so finding one that’s right for you shouldn’t be too difficult.
The entry point to the Octavia range is a 1.5-litre TSI 115 petrol engine, which offers 114bhp and is matched to a six-speed manual gearbox. It’s not quite as sprightly as the other options in the range, but if you do a lot of town driving, it’ll feel right at home.
Opting for that engine with entry-level SE Technology trim gets you plenty of standard kit, including 16in alloy wheels, heated front seats, keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control and cruise control – and you can save up to £5730.
Our favourite engine in the Octavia is the more potent 1.5-litre TSI 150 petrol, which delivers 148bhp and comes with the same six-speed manual gearbox. When you opt for that engine with top-spec SportLine trim, you get some sportier styling, including 18in alloy wheels, a small rear spoiler, sports front seats and aluminium pedals. That combination will save you up to £5854.
Both of those petrol engines are also available with mild hybrid power, which is where a small electric motor sits alongside the engine to give it an extra boost and keep your fuel bills low. It comes matched to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
If mild hybrid power sounds like it would be right for you, then you can opt for the more potent 148bhp petrol engine with that electrified tech in top-spec SportLine trim for a saving of up to £6205.
For those with a need for speed, there’s also a hot hatch variant of the Octavia available: the Octavia vRS. It comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine pumping out 261bhp and completing a 0-62mph sprint in 6.4sec.
As standard, you get sporty styling throughout, with 19in alloy wheels, bespoke sports seats and creature comforts like dual-zone climate control, wireless phone-charging with a cooler, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control and keyless entry – and our deals could save you £6536.
Inside, the Octavia gets a 13in infotainment touchscreen alongside a 10.3in digital driver’s display, complete with Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring, DAB radio, sat-nav and wireless phone-charging with a phone-cooling system.
