The Lexus RC F coupe has been revealed at the Detroit motor show.

The RC F has a 5.0-litre V8 engine that boasts more than 450bhp and will be the most powerful road-going V8 that Lexus has ever made. The company has remained tight-lipped on performance figures such as acceleration times and fuel economy, but the car is expected to have similar performance to the Lexus IS-F, which was also powered by a 5.0 V8. That means a 0-62mph time of less than 5.0 seconds is likely.

The V8-engined two-door coupe is a development of the RC coupe that was unveiled at last year’s Tokyo motor show. Compared to that car, it has wider wheels, air ducts behind the front wheels and an active rear spoiler. It also makes use of carbonfibre components.

The bonnet is also slightly higher than on the standard RC coupe, and has a central duct to help channel air flow. The ‘spindle’ grille at the front has a matt grey finish - rather than chrome - and incorporates a single mesh section that’s carried over into the larger vents in each corner of the bumper. At the rear, the ‘stacked’ dual twin exhaust tailpipes are set within a deeper rear diffuser.

There are 10-spoke 19-inch alloys, which will be available in three designs. The cabin is largely identical to the RC's, with the main exceptions of heavily bolstered sports seats and plenty of F badging in the trim.
