The new Compass is the star of the Jeep stand at this year’s Geneva show.

A vastly revised version of the previous model, the new Compass is effectively an all-new car, with a body that takes its inspiration from the company’s flagship Grand Cherokee and it has a new Mercedes-sourced 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Both front- and four-wheel-drive models will be available, with a choice of three engines: 2.0- and 2.4-litre petrol units or the new 2.2-litre diesel.

The smallest engine comes exclusively with two-wheel-drive, while the 2.4-litre unit comes with four-wheel-drive only, but diesel-engined models have the choice of the two drivetrains.

Inside, there are new soft-touch materials, various controls on the steering wheel, and standard features that will include air-conditioning, electric windows and remote keyless entry.

Available in both Sport and Limited trims, the new car will go on sale in the UK in April.
