The good news with the Swift is that it offers a lot of car for the money. In fact, some versions undercut the smaller Suzuki Splash, and it’s better priced than the likes of Toyota’s Yaris and Peugeot’s 207.
Despite its popularity, there is still a little room for negotiation on the price, as our Target Price shows. Word of its smart looks and polished driving manners has spread to the secondhand market, too, and it tends to hold its value better than rivals such as Vauxhall’s Corsa and Peugeot’s 207.
Running costs are low, too, for all but the 1.5 petrol and Sport models.
While air-conditioning always strengthens resale values, it cannot be added to the basic versions, although it comes as standard on all higher-spec versions. Decent safety kit across the range provides peace of mind and the Swift, like most Suzukis, has proved reliable so far.
