The DS 4 has a generally comfortable ride and good fuel economy, as well as a plush, stylish interior, but it ultimately fails to stand out. Rivals including the Skoda Karoq are even comfier and much more spacious inside. If you do decide to buy a DS 4, we’d suggest choosing the entry-level Pallas trim and the mild-hybrid engine.
The trim
This is the entry-level trim and our recommended choice. It comes well-equipped with keyless entry and start, automatic wipers, power-folding door mirrors, lane-keeping assist and cruise control.
The engine
This diesel engine is the cheapest option and feels stronger at low revs than the entry-level petrol, despite having a similar power output (129bhp). It’s one to consider if you do a lot of motorway driving.
