Three new Ford Transit variants have been added to the range, targeting those buyers looking for vans with a more rugged appeal. Introducing the Transit Trail, Transit Custom Trail and Transit Custom Active.

The Ford Transit Trail offers the most extreme off-road capability of the three, gaining a mechanical limited-slip differential as standard and the option of four-wheel drive.

Exterior modifications are more cosmetic, and include an extra black bumper, side panel cladding and a matt-black front bumper emblazoned with the van maker's name. 16-inch wheels are standard.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre diesel engine with three choices of power output: 128bhp, 168bhp or 182bhp.

A similar version of the smaller Ford Transit Custom is available, but without the four-wheel drive option. The Custom trail is available with a 48V mild hybrid engine option.

The Ford Transit Custom Active offers the rugged visual upgrades without providing the same degree of off-road ability. Highlights include 17-inch alloy wheels, a revised grille and extra cladding.

Ford Transit Trail and Custom Trail

Prices for the Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail models begin at £35,685 and £29,250, respectively.

The Transit Custom Active starts at £30,000 and the cheapest Tourneo Custom Active is £37,950.

All three variants are available to order now, with deliveries starting in late summer 2020.
