The Jaguar F-Type SVR will make its global debut at the Geneva motor show in March, but thanks to a leaked brochure we already know many of the new car's features.
What is it?
The F-Type SVR is an upgraded version of Jaguar's F-Type sports car. Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations Division (SVO), which has already created bespoke versions of the Range Rover Sport, has given the F-Type more power, a higher top speed and numerous styling upgrades.
The car's styling has been influenced by the earlier Jaguar F-Type Project 7, revealed in 2014. Bodywork modifications are designed to encourage air flow to the engine, as well as optimising the F-Type's aerodynamics.
As with the standard car, the F-Type SVR is available in both coupe and convertible forms.
What engines can I choose from?
Jaguar's F-Type SVR uses the same supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine as the F-Type R AWD on which it is based. Jaguar has so far only confirmed that the SVR has a top speed of 200mph but leaked technical specifications reveal that the engine's output is 567bhp, along with 516lb ft of torque.
The car is claimed to reach 62mph from a standing start in 3.7sec in coupé form, with a top speed of 200mph. In convertible form, the SVR has a top speed of 194mph.
In both versions, drive is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
How much equipment does it come with?
Jaguar has yet to reveal the exact specification of the F-Type SVR, but we do know the car is lighter than the standard F-Type and includes carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, as well as a titanium exhaust system and aluminium alloy wheels.
Inside, expect the F-Type SVR to offer the same luxuries as the conventional F-Type, including a large central infotainment screen, dual-zone air conditioning, a multi-function steering wheel and heated seats on top-end models.
How much will it cost?
Prices for the F-Type SVR are expected to start at around £100,000 when the car goes on sale this summer. By comparison, the standard F-Type is priced from £51,760, while the F-Type R AWD, on which the SVR is based, costs from £91,660.
How good are its rivals?
The standard Jaguar F-Type currently receives a four-star rating on What Car? in both coupe and convertible forms.
Rivals include Audi's R8 V10 Plus, which currently has a four-star rating, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which gets three stars.
