Volkswagen T-Roc review

Volkswagens tend to be great box tickers; they’re usually cars that appeal to your rational side rather than tug merrily away at your heartstrings. But with the Volkswagen T-Roc, its smallest SUV, the German giant is hoping to show that it can do flair as well as functionality.

It could be described as betwixt and between the competition, because at the cheaper end of its line-up the T-Roc competes with slightly smaller SUVs, including the Seat Arona and Kia Stonic. If you’re interested in its pricier trim tiers, though, then you’re pushing into the premium-badge territory of Audi’s Q2 and the Mini Countryman.

To help it stand out in this busy marketplace, the T-Roc has a rugged yet distinctly urban-SUV flavour, including a more rakish rear end than most of its rivals. As you move up the range it is further distinguished by swanky LED daytime running lights and contrasting elements, such as the roof and door mirrors.

There’s substance, too. VW is looking to tempt potential buyers with a fulsome range of engines and the option of front- or four-wheel drive. The T-Roc is also packed with the latest technology for both convenience and safety.
