The Continental GT coupe was the first Bentley developed from scratch by Volkswagen, and in a positive way, it shows. Quality is excellent, but the German maker has still imbued it with the spirit of the British marque - and plenty of luxury equipment.
A hotter Speed edition is available, powered by the same impressive W12 engine as the standard car but with an extra 48bhp liberated. Performance enhancements like firmed suspension and recalibrated steering make it the sharper of the two - although it’s £17,000 more expensive.
Both coupes post identically high mpg and CO2 figures - 17mpg and 496g/km CO2 - and both ride over most bumps like a luxury saloon.
