Hi I have read with interest the reviews of Peugeot 3008. I have now had a good chance to spend significant time driving it. Not bad, but ... I am flummoxed that a car with the basic flaw that this possesses could have won the WhatCar? Car of the Year award, as a "family car". There is already one driver-review here from a 6'6" driver complaining that there was no room in the back when he sat in the driver's seat. Well, that may seem a tad unfair to many, including me. I suspect a six-foot-sixer is going to present problems in many cars for back seat passengers. So let me present my case. I am only 180cm [that's a fingernail under 5'11" for those who haven't made the transition yet]. I sat in my preferred driving position, which was one less than the max. setting. Then I opened the driver's door and tried to get into the back seat. I could not. There was about 100mm of space between the hollow in the back of the driver's seat and the squab of the back seat. A six year old could have sat there, maybe even a small, slim ten year old, but that's it. Now, I own a Honda Jazz and my 195cm son-in-law can sit behind me in that car, which is *not* a "family car". Clearly Peugeot have cribbed about 100-150cm from the back seat to make the boot look roomy. They've also made a very high belt-line, to achieve more depth to maximise the boot-floor-to-window volume statistic, resulting in reduced driver vision. Car of the year? Did any of your judges sit in the back seat?
Update to original review. Had the car for a year 14,000 miles. Very impressed overall. It's no sportscar, but a great family car. Very quiet on the…
Bought this very early 10 reg example second hand in February 2011. My first French car, replacing a much loved Skoda Octavia estate 2.0 petrol. Very…
