Car of the Year Awards 2022: Best executive car for value
A top-notch executive car must do it all – frugally and in style. Buyers want effortless long-haul capability, a comfortable and classy interior, and low benefit-in-kind tax rates...
Skoda Superb 1.5 TSI 150 SE Technology

The Skoda Superb is a bit of an underdog in the executive car boxing ring, but if you’re not bothered about a premium badge, it punches above its weight in several key disciplines.
It certainly delivers a knockout blow when it comes to value for money. In our favourite 1.5 TSI SE Technology spec, the Superb costs thousands less than its more upmarket relative, the Audi A4, and also undercuts the similarly sensible Volkswagen Passat, while packing all the standard kit you’d reasonably need.

It also hits hard in terms of interior space, providing four adults with far more scope to stretch out in their seats than any other executive car (not to mention some luxury cars). Its boot is gigantic, and a wide-opening tailgate makes manhandling bulky items into it a breeze. The Superb isn’t quite as polished as the BMW 3 Series, but it’s a heavyweight contender at a flyweight price.
