The Volkswagen Golf GTD is available to order now, with prices starting at 25,285.
Powered by a 181bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine, the Golf GTD sprints from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 143mph. It produces 280lb ft of torque, which is available from 1750rpm.
The entry-level three-door car gets a six-speed manual gearbox, while an extra set of doors costs an additional 655.
Regardless of whether you opt for three doors or five, choosing the six-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox adds 1415.
Average economy is 67.3mpg for the three-door manual, dropping to 60.1mpg for the five-door automatic.
All Golf GTDs have smoked LED rear lights and bi-xenon headlights, chrome tailpipes, 18-inch alloys and sports suspension.
Grey tartan sports seats feature inside the cabin, along with dual-zone climate control and a touch-screen infotainment system with DAB, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. Parking sensors also come as standard.
Safety features include a post-collision braking system, pre-crash system with seatbelt pre-tensioner, City Emergency Braking, radar-operated cruise control and seven airbags as standard.
A range of options are available on the Golf GTD, including 19-inch alloys, keyless entry, Park Assist, Adaptive Chassis Control and touch-screen satellite-navigation.
Volkswagen is taking orders for the Golf GTD now, with the first cars delivered to customers in early August.
