New plug-in hybrid BMW X5 xDrive45e trumps virtually all of its rivals with a 54-mile electric-only range - but what's it like?...
This X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid is clearly a potential game-changer with an outstanding electric range. And it should also mean the X5 will be a cheap company car as of April, when tax bands take into account electric ranges; those 54 miles mean you'll only have to pay 8% company car (benefit-in-kind) tax.
Given that it’ll be slightly cheaper to buy than the equivalent Q7 or XC90, this X5 has a lot going for it. In fact, the only black mark against it is the lack of seven seats. So, unless a third row is vital to you, we'd certainly recommend putting it near the top of your shortlist.
