For
The DS3 is Citroen's rival to the Mini hatchback and Ford Fiesta. It's style-driven both inside and out, with quality materials used throughout the cabin. The bold exterior is completed by LED head and brake lights that come as standard on DSport trim.
In our favourite THP 155 guise the DS3 has plenty of power to make the little Citroen feel sprightly both around town and on the motorway. The DS3 has been set up for sporty driving, so it turns into corners with vigour and grips well.
Equipment levels are also generous - the top-spec DSport trim we recommend comes with climate control, Bluetooth, alloy wheels and aluminium pedals.
Against
The DS3 is not a comfortable car. Its suspension crashes over big bumps and jiggles over little ones. Hit a very large bump and the car can be thrown off its line.
It's also not very refined. Engine and road noise are obvious at all speeds, and wind noise becomes very intrusive on the motorway. You can also hear the suspension thudding as the car hits imperfections in the road.
The DS3 isn't as engaging to drive as a Mini, while its resale values aren't as strong.
Should I add any options?
We'd avoid increasing the price any further as this top-spec DSport comes with almost all the kit you could want.
However, if you want sat-nav you can specify it with either an upgraded stereo or a reversing camera for £1050.
