Ford Focus ST diesel to get new auto box
The diesel version of Ford's Focus ST will come with the company's new Powershift automatic gearbox...
The Ford Focus ST diesel will come with the company's new six-speed automatic gearbox from early 2016.
The diesel version of the hot hatch has previously only been offered with a six-speed manual transmission, but will now have the option of the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox as well.
Ford hasn’t said what changes, if any, the automatic transmission will make to the diesel ST’s performance. In standard form the hatch is capable of reaching 62mph from rest in 8.1sec, has a top speed of 135mph, is capable of returning 67.3mpg and officially emits 110g/km of CO2.
The Powershift-equipped Focus ST diesel is likely to command only a small premium over the standard car, which costs from £22,495. On the standard Focus, the Powershift transmission is a £1250 option.
