Our verdict

Choose either of these mini chariots and you’ll get a fine city car. The Up is more fun to drive, has a stronger engine and a more modern interior than the i10, but, as an all-rounder, the i10 remains a better choice.

Its more settled ride, roomier interior, slower depreciation and more generous list of standard equipment make it a more compelling choice. Throw the brilliant new infotainment system into the mix and we don’t see the i10 relinquishing its crown any time soon.
