The 2015 Subaru Outback aims to offer off-road ability and protection from tougher terrain, but without going for the SUV styling.

It is very much still an estate, but comes with plenty of additional elements to keep it moving off road. Despite this, this latest version claims to have significantly improved interior quality and space while adding more safety equipment.

It also comes with a choice of two engines, one petrol and one diesel, and is available to buy in April 2015. However, we gave a team of What Car? readers a chance to take an early look at the car before it went on sale to see what they made of it.
