28 December 2017 – fourth report

As a new(ish) parent you quickly learn that if you’re struggling to get a baby to sleep it helps to take them for a ride in the car. But I find the 5 Series works particularly well.

This is probably because it offers the motion that babies like, while isolating them from unwanted noise and soaking up most bumps and potholes. Plus, the ambient interior lighting – which lets you choose from 11 colours – helps create a suitably relaxing atmosphere.

Indeed, you don't have to measure your age in months to appreciate the interior of the 5 Series. For a while it felt like Audi was leaving everyone behind when it came to fit and finish, but I'd argue BMW has well and truly reversed that trend with this big saloon.
