The Porsche 911 Cabriolet gets its first public airing at the Detroit motor show 2012.
The 911 Cabriolet goes on sale in March. Just like the new 911 Coupe, the Cabriolet has a longer wheelbase, engines that are more powerful and more fuel-efficient, and lighter bodywork than the car it replaces.
The fully electric fabric roof is lighter than the one in the previous model, thanks to the use of magnesium in the hood's frame.
The engine line-up comprises a 3.4-litre flat-six producing 345bhp (Carrera) and a 3.8-litre motor producing 394bhp (Carrera S). Both models have a new seven-speed manual gearbox, while a seven-speed PDK semi-automatic gearbox is optional.
The 911 Carrera Cabriolet will cost 79,947 almost 5000 more than the current model while the 89,740 Carrera S is nearly 6000 more than the equivalent model on sale at the moment.
