Peugeot 308 SW confirmed for 2014
* Estate version of new 308 confirmed * Likely to cost £1000 more than hatchback * New model due at 2014 Geneva motor show...
The Peugeot 308 SW will make its official debut at the 2014 Geneva motor show, and Peugeot sources have confirmed to What Car? that the estate version will be revealed next year.
The 308 SW is likely to share most of its engine range with the 308 hatchback. Company sources have also confirmed it will get the new 109bhp and 129bhp three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, which will be available in the hatchback next year. The 80bhp 1.2-litre petrol is unlikely to be offered on the SW.
The outgoing 308 SW has a massive boot, and is available as a seven-seater. We’d expect the same sort of practicality on the new model, although Peugeot won’t yet confirm whether it will get the seven-seat option.
Pricing for the 308 SW is unlikely to be confirmed until it appears next year, but the same sources told us that the increase from hatchback to estate will be ‘in line with the premium between equivalent models of the outgoing car’.
This means an extra cost of just under £1000 for the larger car, so we’d expect the 308 SW to be priced from around £16,500 when it goes on sale later next year.
