2013 Mazda MX-5 on sale from December
* Face-lifted 2013 Mazda MX-5 * Cosmetic updates; extra equipment * On sale December; priced from 18,495...

The 2013 Mazda MX-5 is available to order from December 1. The updated model gets a subtle face-lift, improved throttle response and changes to boost pedestrian safety.
Cosmetic changes are aimed at giving the MX-5 a more aggressive look, in line with Mazda's other models.
There are new bumpers and front grille, and a 'chin' spoiler that reduces aerodynamic drag. There's also a new active bonnet system to improve pedestrian safety.
In the event of a collision with a pedestrian, the rear edge of the bonnet pops up to increase the gap between the bonnet and engine to lessen the impact.
On models with a manual gearbox, the throttle pedal actuation has been modified to give a more responsive feel. Mazda says it gives a more linear action when accelerating from lower speeds.
The MX-5's braking has been upgraded, with a system that's designed to make stopping more controllable, and acceleration after braking smoother and faster.
Every Mazda MX-5 now comes with climate control and a glossy dark finish for the dashboard panel. Sport Tech models gain an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and aluminium pedal trim. Three new exterior colours are available.
The 2013 Mazda MX-5 costs from 18,495; a rise of 500.
An all-new MX-5, co-developed with Alfa Romeo, is due in 2014.
