2020 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 verdict
At well over £60k, the Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 is the cheapest Boxster with a six-cylinder engine. Is it worth the extra over an S?...

At this point, very often you’ll hear us say something along the lines of: while the GTS’s extra power and poise are great, you can enjoy 90% of those qualities with the cheaper Boxster S. Today, that’s not true. Yes, a Boxster S displays similar balance and grip, and, in terms of outright performance, it has enough. But the Boxster S doesn’t have this engine.
Nor does the Alpine A110 S, for that matter, or six-cylinder rivals such as the BMW Z4 M40i. None of those cars can hold a candle to the GTS’s responsiveness or, most importantly, sound. The flat-six experience is 3D and immersive to the 2D decency of everything else. So, if you have £60k-plus to spend on a sports car, this is one U-turn you’ll want to celebrate with an investment. It's pure, unadulterated fun.
