What Car? Electric Car Awards in association with myenergi
Electric Car Awards 2020 winners revealed
With electric cars now coming in all shapes and sizes – and available to suit every budget – we’ve named the best models in every class...
Like most areas of the economy, the new car market was hit hard by the coronavirus lockdown, but there’s one part that’s still up massively compared with 2019: electric car sales.
UK motorists bought more than 30,000 fully electric cars during the first six months of 2020 – a 159% increase on the same period last year. And when you include all plug-in models, the total sold rises to more than 50,000.
It's a trend that's only likely to accelerate, with a recent What Car? poll revealing that 26% of people are more inclined to go electric as a result of the changed environment we’re now living in. However, with the number of electrified choices growing all the time, it can be hard to know where to start.
Here, then, we present the winners of the first-ever What Car? Electric Car Awards, held in association with charging point provider Myenergi. And we've not just looked at fully electric cars, but also hybrids that are capable of at least 20 miles of zero-emissions motoring between charges.
