The Citroën C4 in entry-level You! trim with the Hybrid 110 engine is temptingly priced and well worth a look. It’s an easy car to drive every day, being quiet and comfortable. What’s more, it's relatively cheap to run and represents an affordable way into a coupé-styled SUV. However, some rivals are simply more well-rounded (the VW Taigo is better to drive and more spacious, for example).
The trim
Despite the tempting price tag, the entry-level C4 'You!' comes with plenty of standard equipment, including 18in alloy wheels, electrically heated and adjusted door mirrors, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and the features we've already mentioned, including LED headlights, 10in touchscreen infotainment system, and rear parking sensors. Bearing in mind the C4 is a value-focused buy, we'd stick to this trim to maximise value for money.
The engine
The Hybrid 110 is the C4’s entry-level engine and the only one available with entry-level ‘You!’ trim. It’s our pick of the range, because of how well it blends performance and costs. While it has a modest 109bhp and gets from 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds, that's competitive with the entry-level engines in rival small SUVs. With its mild-hybrid tech, it can run on electric power for short bursts – as long as you're very gentle on the accelerator pedal.
