SsangYong to show extended Tivoli and preview new large SUV in Geneva

SsangYong will reveal a new, larger version of its Tivoli crossover at the Geneva motor show next month.

The Tivoli XLV will go on sale in the UK next summer, and although it shares the same wheelbase as the regular Tivoli, its body has been lengthened by 235mm. That means available storage space has increased to 720 litres - well up from the standard Tivoli's 423 litres - while cabin space should also be improved.

While theTivoli XLV looks almost identical to the Tivoli at the front, small styling changes at the rear should mark it out next to its shorter sibling. The car will be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines already offered in the Tivoli, with drivers able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox, or a six-speed automatic.

Prices for The Tivoli XLV won't be revealed until closer to its market launch, but a starting price of around £15,000 is likely.

SsangYong will also preview a new, larger SUV model in Geneva with the SIV-2 concept car. That model, a rival for the Nissan Qashqai, will go on sale in two years time, and will be sold with electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid powertrain options.
