2020 Kia Ceed 1.6 CRDi 48v iMT verdict

Updated Kia Ceed gains mild-hybrid tech to improve efficiency. Do the changes make it more recommendable?...

2020 Kia Ceed IMT side

Although the economy improvement is nothing to write home about, CO2 emissions have been reduced and the engine is now RDE2 emissions standards compliant. In English, it means there’s no 4% diesel surcharge, so company car users will face a reasonable 22% BIK tax rate.

While the updates are welcome, it doesn’t push the Kia Ceed any further towards the top of the class. Despite the electrical assistance, the diesel engine still feels a little weak while interior space and quality are trumped by the Skoda Octavia.

However, if you’re considering keeping your new car for some time, it’s worth remembering that the Kia Ceed has Kia’s unrivalled seven-year warranty and a decent reliability record, too. For some, that will be enough to seal the deal.
