SUVs are often known for being big, spacious yet expensive family cars, but that's not necessarily the case nowadays.
That's because, like most modern cars, they're available in a range of sizes to suit most budgets – from inexpensive small SUVs and family SUVs to more expensive luxury SUVs.
But what about running costs? Well, many SUVs are offered with mild hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, which means they can often be relatively cheap to run.
In fact, if you keep your PHEV SUV charged up, you'll be able to do shorter journeys using electricity alone, without burning a drop of petrol. In other words, running costs can be very low.
