New Audi A5 Sportback vs BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe

Our verdict

It’s a clear-cut victory for the new Audi A5 Sportback. As a motorway cruiser, it is more comfortable and quieter than the 4 Series Gran CoupΓ©, yet it’s more agile on a twisting country road. Factor in its spacious interior and lower running costs and it becomes a no-brainer.

That’s not to say the 4 Series Gran CoupΓ© is a bad car. It’s just showing its age these days, doesn’t feel as special enough inside and isn’t cheap enough to make up for its shortfalls

The Audi A5 Cabriolet is refined, comfortable and has tidy, if not thrilling, handling. It’s one of the best drop-tops in this price range.
