New front-wheel-drive Vauxhall Mokka 1.4

The Vauxhall Mokka is now available to order as a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol with front-wheel drive.

The 138bhp engine is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. Regardless of transmission, the 1.4 turbo is equipped with stop-start technology as standard.

In manual form, the 1.4 turbo emits 139g/km of CO2 with average economy of 47.1mpg. The automatic is less efficient, with CO2 emissions up to 158g/km and average economy of 41.5mpg.

The automatic sits four company car tax bands higher than the manual, so BIK liability will be around £200 more each year for a basic rate taxpayer.

The front-wheel-drive 1.4 turbo in manual guise is now the quickest model in the Mokka range, getting from 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds with a top speed of 120mph.

On Exclusiv and SE trims you can now specify an upgraded CD player with a seven-inch colour screen and Vauxhall's Intellilink software for £240 more, or a pricier Bose sound system with subwoofer, digital amplifier and satellite-navigation. The latter costs £1055, although you'll have to pay another £95 for a space-saver spare wheel to enable this option. Oddly, the Bose system with sat-nav is standard on the cheapest Tech Line models.

Providing you specify Tech Line, or upgrade the sound system on Exclusiv or SE cars, you can add a rear-view camera for another £200, with the image displayed via the seven-inch screen. You can choose 19-inch alloy wheels as a £600 option on SE-spec cars only.

Prices for the Vauxhall Mokka front-wheel-drive 1.4 turbo start at £16,719 for a Tech Line model with the manual gearbox.
