More practical 2014 Nissan Juke

This is the 2014 version of the Nissan Juke, which comes with revisions to its styling and improved interior space.

The most notable change is a 100-litre increase in boot capacity, which is boosted from 250 litres to 350.

Nissan has managed to increase the space but without compromising on the spare wheel options, and the Juke is still available with the same full-size spare and tyre inflation kit. The boot also now comes with an adjustable floor, which can be set at the level of the boot lip, or dropped all the way down.

The other big change is to the car's front and rear, where the lights and bumpers have been all been restyled.

The front lights are now boomerang shaped, and feature LED daytime running lights. Nissan is also offering xenon lights as an option for the first time on the Juke. The tail-lights have also been restyled and now feature LED technology as standard.

Nissan has also redesigned the grille, with the large V shape brought into line with the front-end styling of the new Qashqai and the Note mini MPV.

Juke buyers will now be able to personalise their car for the first time, with the introduction of several low-level factory fit styling options.

There are three escalating levels of personalisation. The first adds coloured details under the front and rear bumpers, the second puts coloured slashes on the alloy wheels and the third colours several elements of the cabin. Only four colours will be available as factory-fit options, but dealers will be able to add a further five colours, including purple, orange and blue.

These personalised elements will also be removable by Nissan, to allow customers to change their minds on colour choices, or to help resale appeal.

The sat nav system has also been upgraded to improve the level of connectivity on offer, while the Juke gets the safety shield technology that is offered on the Nissan Note.

The biggest change to the engine lineup is the addition of the 1.2-litre petrol engine that is offered on the new Nissan Qashqai. Although figures are yet to be finalised for the 113bhp unit, it is expected to offer CO2 emissions around 126g/km, aided by the now standard fit engine stop-start system.

The top-level 187bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine has also been tweaked to improve CO2 emissions, which drop from 159g/km to 139g/km. The 1.5-litre diesel engine remains unchanged, with emissions as low as 104g/km and fuel economy of 61.2mpg.

The facelifted Nissan Juke goes on sale in June, with more information on pricing and final UK specification available from early May. Prices are not expected to rise drastically more than the current version.
