I’ve been finding out how the Peugeot 3008 – which looks like a rugged SUV but doesn't have four-wheel drive – copes with wintry weather. I’m happy – and relieved – to report that it’s doing well so far.
I got caught up in the start of a Kent blizzard as I was nearing home last night and the 3008 gripped well on the first smatterings of settled snow and slid in a slow and manageable way when I had to use the brakes to stop at traffic lights at the bottom of a snow-laden car park ramp.
However, this did make me wonder: if I was speccing a new 3008 now, would I add Advance Grip Control, a system that offers five settings to optimise traction in low-grip conditions, such as snow or mud?
Since it’s only a £470 option, I would say yes. It's a system that would definitely give me added confidence next time I need to drive the car in such difficult conditions.
