Warranty Direct has named the UK's most and least reliable family cars after analysing data from its Reliability Index, which is based on data from more than 50,000 policies

7. Hyundai i30 (07 - 12)

While the original Hyundai i30 was never class-leading in any particular area, it offers supportive seats, decent space for five, a comfortable ride and good grip through corners. Road noise and bland looks are the biggest drawbacks.

6. Toyota Prius (03 - 09)

The second Prius to make the top 10 is the model that was sold between 2003 and 2009. However. Although it is even more reliable than its replacement, it's also more compromised to drive and noisy at speed, while the dashboard is overly complicated.

5. Honda Civic (00 - 06)

The Civic also appears twice on this list, with the model that was introduced at the turn of the century combining impressive reliability with a spacious interior, user-friendly dashboard design and enjoyable handling. You do have to put up with a lot of road noise, though.
