Accessibility & Motability
Usability for people with disability or their carers
Motability - Access
The Honda CR-V gets off to a flying start as a Motability option, with doors that open to no less than 70 degrees. Basically, the only way to get them any more out of the way would be to remove them altogether. This means the doors give you a nice wide path when you’re getting in and out.
That’s just as well, though, because, with the driver’s seat being almost 700mm from the ground in its lowest setting, and more than 730mm in its highest setting, you may need to lift yourself up quite a way to climb aboard, and lower yourself a lot when getting back out again.

Motability - Storage
The Honda CR-V has a pretty enormous boot: it’s more than a metre wide at even at its narrowest point, and 960mm long even when the rear seats are in use. This means a wheelchair will fit in easily without being folded down first, with no need to lower the rear seats. Not many cars can manage that.
What’s more, the rear seats fold down completely flat at the tug of a single lever next to the tailgate, and there’s no load lip to obstruct the path of large or awkwardly shaped items when you lift them in and out of the boot. That item can be huge, too, because the CR-V has a full 1.8 metres of load length available when the rear seats are down..
There are numerous cubbies and storage boxes dotted around inside, but the door pockets are less accommodating and will only take a small bottle of water.
