This is the Range Rover Sport SVR, a 543bhp supercharged V8 version of the popular SUV that will make its public debut at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Last week Land Rover started teasing video footage of the Range Rover Sport SVR testing at the Nurburgring. It has now confirmed the car’s power output – 550PS, or 543bhp – and stated that it will make a limited number of runs up Goodwood’s famous hill. The car will still be wearing its disguise, though; a full unveiling is not expected until later in the summer.

The Range Rover Sport SVR will be the first production car to carry the SVR badging. It’s designed to replace the current ‘hardcore’ designation, as seen on the Jaguar XFR-S. The car has been developed by Special Vehicle Operations, the high-performance and ultra-luxury division of Jaguar Land Rover’s recently launched Special Operations company.

Land Rover has not issued prices or performance data for the SVR. However, given that it has 33bhp more than the current supercharged Range Rover Sport, and a more aggressive, reprofiled version of the automatic transmission, we’d expect the 0-62mph time to be close to five seconds.
