The 5008 is our favourite large SUV, so it's unsurprisingly popular with What Car? readers. But which other cars do 5008 buyers consider, and do they deserve a place on your shortlist?...

Interest in Kia's seven-seat SUV only increases as time goes on, and since the Sorento offers both lots of space and a strong 2.2-litre diesel engine that's great for towing, we can see why. The 5008 feels more agile through corners, but if you're after a similarly large and practical SUV, the Sorento is a good choice.

Toyota RAV4

Interested while researching 7% | Interested at buying stage 9%

The Peugeot 5008 doesn't offer any hybrid options, so it makes sense that green-minded buyers might gravitate towards Toyota's hybrid RAV4 instead. Indeed, interest peaks at 9% by the time they're ready to buy. Aside from low running costs, the RAV4 is fairly practical and will hold on to its value well. There's no seven-seat option, though, and rivals such as the 5008 are better to drive.

Seat Tarraco

Interested while researching 7% | Interested at buying stage 9%

The Tarraco scores a couple of early wins over the 5008 – namely that rear head room is better if you opt for the panoramic sunroof, and it loses value at a slower rate. The Peugeot quickly fights back, however, with both a larger boot, more spacious third-row seats and an interior that feels more special.
