Peugeot 5008 SUV: what else are buyers considering?
The 5008 is our favourite large SUV, so it's unsurprisingly popular with What Car? readers. But which other cars do 5008 buyers consider, and do they deserve a place on your shortlist?...

Land Rover Discovery Sport

Interest in Land Rover's SUV more than doubles between the researching and buying stages. As well it might, because the Discovery Sport is undoubtedly a more premium offering than the 5008. It's good to drive, holds onto its value well and can be had with seven seats. However, the 5008's rearmost seats are more spacious.

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

Volkswagen's seven-seat version of the Tiguan SUV is good to drive and has a high-quality interior, but its rearmost seats are cramped, so the 5008 is a better bet if you'll be seating seven often. The Peugeot also has a larger boot, even with all seven seats in place.

What Car? says:
While potential Peugeot 5008 buyers are researching some very credible alternatives, we think their original choice is the best; after all, the 5008 has been our reigning champion in the large SUV market for two years running, seeing off more expensive competition in the process. Go for the 1.2-litre petrol engine we recommend and, even with the whole family on board, the 5008 feels sprightly while also returning decent fuel economy (36mpg in our tests). And thanks to our latest Target Price deals, we can currently save you up to £2506 on one if you buy through What Car? New Car Buying.
