What’s been the most popular new car review on the What Car? website in 2019? With so many excellent new cars on sale at the moment, it isn't easy to guess.

It could be one of 2019's big-hitters, like the Tesla Model 3 or Volkswagen T-Cross, or perhaps it's a big-selling car like the Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Golf? Well, we've been through the numbers of an incredible year in cars, and below we count down the top 10.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Design 2.5 AWD Automatic

If you want to combine the practicality of a large SUV with the low running costs of a hybrid, the Toyota RAV4 is a fine choice. It officially pumps out less C02 than a Ford Fiesta, while also having enough space for your family and all of their luggage. It's a little pricier than rival large SUVs, but strong resale values mean you should get most of your money back when it comes to selling. Toyota's strong reliability record means it shouldn't land you with any hefty repair bills, either.

Kia e-Niro front and side

It's no surprise to see this year's Car of the Year on this list – after all, with a real-world range of more than 250 miles, but with a price that's affordable for many this electric family SUV represents something of a watershed moment for electric cars. Add in that it's surprisingly roomy inside, well equipped and has strong acceleration, and it's a highly commendable car which deserves a place on any green motorist's shortlist.
