The entry-level Pure trim is well equipped, with leather upholstery and an 8.0in touchscreen infotainment system included as standard.
Interior quality is of a high standard - the upper areas of the fascia are particularly plush, making the Evoque feel like a Range Rover.
The steering is quick and accurate, while the ride is comfortable and absorbs most road imperfections.
It isn’t as efficient as some of its rivals, with an official fuel economy of 47.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 159g/km.
The boot is a little small, with a high floor, and the rear seats don’t fold flat.
Wind and road noise can be a problem, especially if you go for the optional 20in wheels.
Should I add any options?
The panoramic sunroof costs £902 and brightens up the otherwise dark rear cabin.
Other options include a 17-speaker hi-fi system, sports seats and a dual-view screen that allows the front passenger to watch TV while the driver is looking at the sat-nav.
This model comes with the Tech Pack, which brings many desirable extras such as satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors and auto lights and wipers.
