Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia rears

Our verdict

Well, battles don’t come any more closely fought than this, with both the Leon and Octavia securing our maximum five-star rating. Genuinely, you really can’t go wrong with either of these cars, so even if you’re not a fan of the winner, you certainly won’t be disappointed.

So, in second place is… the Skoda Octavia. We love its gutsy yet economical engine and bedsit-sized boot, not to mention its classy, well-built interior. However, we can’t ignore the significant price and PCP gap between it and the Seat Leon, which strikes a better ride and handling balance. With even more room inside for people and more enjoyable handling for the driver, it takes the win.
